metmar.studio
metmar.studio is a cultural design and research studio founded by architect Mulham Al-kharboutli.
Rooted in Syria and shaped through work in New Mexico and beyond, metmar.studio explores how material traditions, vernacular knowledge, and architectural storytelling can inform contemporary practice. The studio engages in fieldwork, drawing, prototyping, and hands-on building — often in close collaboration with craftspeople, educators, and community members.
Each project is an open inquiry into how architecture connects memory, meaning, and making. From traditional construction methods to participatory educational tools and design-build installations, the studio’s work bridges geographies, generations, and ways of knowing — grounded in a commitment to the social and environmental responsibility of the built environment.
